Layla Marshall, 1st chair Oboe All-State Orchestra
Andrew Brady, 1st chair Bassoon All-State Orchestra
Hilary Maitlen, 3rd chair trombone, All-State Band
Very proud of these students.
What an outstanding year to enjoy with our most successful combination of marching and concert seasons ever! Our yearly celebration of the band is our band banquet on the first Friday of May each year. This year, that is Friday, May 2nd. We will be feasting at Munsey Christian Life Center again with a menu of: Something chicken, two sides, a salad, some fruit, and a desert. Drinks will be tea, lemonade, and coffee. The meal will begin at 6PM with awards at 7PM. Our outstanding jazz band will be playing during the dinner hour.
Students will make reservations next week during
their band classes (grade 9-12). Adults and other family members, the cost is $10 per person. You must make reservations no later than Friday, April 25th. Make
reservations by emailing the hospitality committee at:
shhshospitality@live.com This is the preferred method of making reservations.
or, if you can’t email, call: 423-833-4808
Band students will eat without charge, but must communicate their attendance with us next week. All others must pay. We will not be able to add people at the door, since we anticipate a full house. Please make your reservation on time.
Kids take the pledge sheet and get pledges. The bands will play for 6 hours, so it is the pledge amount X6 for every dollar pledged. ($1 X 6 = $6.00 profit). This is a 100% profit item, so it is great for the kids trip account.
All students in grade 9-12 will perform once or twice every two hours. We will rotate between performances of the Freshman Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, and small ensembles through every two hours, then begin again.
The end of the day will occur at 4PM when all members will perform “Everything is coming up Roses” conducted by the Tournament of Roses President. The Eighth Grade band students who are going to Pasadena are invited to perform at the 4PM finale.
The pledge sheet is a blank check. The more pledges you get, the more money goes into your account. The next $500 amount for the trip is due in May,this is the event to close the gap for your student account!
The pledge sheet are available here.
